Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how ClipForge (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles your information. The short version: your videos stay on your Mac, and we collect as little as possible.

What stays on your device

• Your media. Videos, screen recordings, images and audio you import into ClipForge are stored inside your project on your Mac. They are never uploaded to our servers.
• Rendering and export. All video composition and export happens on-device. Exported videos are written to a folder you choose.
• Caption transcription. Auto-captions use Apple's on-device speech recognition. Your audio is not sent to us or to third parties for transcription.
• Voiceover synthesis. The voiceover feature uses on-device text-to-speech. Your scripts and the synthesized audio never leave your Mac.
• The MCP server. ClipForge's MCP server runs only on your Mac (localhost), is disabled by default, and is protected by a token stored locally. AI clients you connect (such as Claude Code) run under your own accounts and their own privacy terms.

What we store

• Account information. If you sign in (Sign in with Apple via Firebase Authentication), we store your user identifier and, if you share it, your email address, to identify your account.
• Project documents. Your project files — a small text description of your edit (clip order, trims, captions, text) plus a small thumbnail — sync to your account so your work is not lost. They do not contain your video files.
• Feedback. If you send feedback or a feature request from the app's Settings, we store the message you write.
• Anonymous usage analytics. We collect anonymous usage events (for example, which features are used and basic app diagnostics) to understand what to improve. These events are not tied to your identity, are not used for advertising, and are never sold.

Library downloads

The UGC clip and music libraries are downloaded from our servers when you preview or insert an item, then cached on your device. These requests include standard technical information (such as IP address) needed to serve the files.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not upload or inspect your footage.
• We do not show ads or use advertising trackers in the app.

Data retention and deletion

Your account and synced project documents are retained until you delete them or delete your account. You can delete your account from within the app, which removes your profile and synced projects from our systems.

Third-party services

ClipForge uses Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions) to provide accounts, project sync and library downloads. Firebase processes data on our behalf under Google's terms and safeguards.

Children

ClipForge is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “last updated” date.
